HER CALENDAR PROJECT 2012: Whatcom County Women

Thirty six successful and inspirational Whatcom County women are featured in the 2012 HER CALENDAR, including Rebecca Meloy. Marisa Papetti, Business Development Director for fifthonsixth inc., a Bellingham based company, is the mastermind of this clever adventure. Sales will benefit a dozen local charities. ART'S ALIVE 2011: Emerging Artists exhibition. LaConner, WA

Exhibition Dates: November 4-6 at Maple Hall.
Opening Date: Friday, November 4, 6-9 p.m. with ticket price of $8 per person.
Rebecca will exhibit a collection of tree and land based image paintings -- all will be for sale. This event is presented by the LaConner Chamber of Commerce.

HEALING THROUGH ART: St. Joseph Hospital, Bellingham WA

Exhibition Dates: September 9 through January 2012
The PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center Healing Through Art program is designed to create an environment that promotes healing and comfort to patients, visitors and staff. In collaboration with the Lucia Douglas Gallery, a dozen of Rebecca's land based pastels and oil paintings have been selected for this present group show. 10% of sales benefit the Circle of Care program. ANACORTES 50TH ANNUAL ARTS FESTIVAL: STEAM ROLLER PRINTING

August 6, Rebecca was one of ten featured artists at the 50th Annual Anacortes Arts Festival's Steamroller Linoleum Printing Event. She designed, cut, and printed a 3' x 4' lino titled 'Island Life' that will be auctioned by the festival in the near future to raise money in support of next year's event. A success, she will print an edition of five more at Dawn Sodt's print studio in Fairhaven in the near future and is taking orders now should you wish to purchase one. BOOTH 65 / THE COTTAGE ARCHEOLOGIST at the Alley Cat Antique Mall, Anacortes, WA
In January 2011, Rebecca built a tiny garden shed Booth 65 at the Alley Cat Antique Mall in Anacortes Washington. A structure that she designed and built from scratch using many recycled materials http://www.rebeccameloy.com/artworks/category/C60/59 . As THE COTTAGE ARCHEOLOGIST, Rebecca has stuffed the retail space with antique collectibles, vintage house items, garden items, and quality vintage japanese prints and art by a wide selection of creative people http://www.rebeccameloy.com/artworks/category/C63/59 and http://www.rebeccameloy.com/artworks/category/C62/59 . Rebecca specializes in finding unique and original arts or crafts and carefully refurbishes pieces to give them new life. Additionally, she includes some of her own quilts, garden trellises and tables http://www.rebeccameloy.com/artworks/category/C65/59, affordable watercolors, or whatever she deems right for the season. On any day of the week you can visit Booth 65. The mall is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and has a dedicated group of experienced helpers to assist you. Within walking distance you will also find wonderful cafes, a brew pub, more antiques, art galleries, and ships being restored. From Anacortes, you can also catch a ferry to visit the San Juan Islands should you want to make a three day weekend jaunt.

Directions: From I-5 drive on West 20 to Anacortes. At the round about go right. Drive north toward the ship yard on Commercial. At 3rd, the Alley Cat Antique Mall will be situated on your right. Park immediately. Enter through the double doors, walk straight back and to the right into the side room. Booth 65 is on the far south wall. Just look for the peaked shed facade made with recycled shiplap.

After your Alley Cat Antiquing experience, visit Jean Behnke's 'Anchor Art Space' (open on weekends). Located 'kitty-corner' across the street from Alley Cat to the north. At the Anchor you can ask to view Rebecca's linoleum block prints.

Rebecca has the linoleum print Roslyn included in this huge traveling exhibition at Print Zero: Seattle, August 2009; University of Regina / 5th Parallel Gallery: Canada, October 2009; Concordia University / Mouse Print Gallery: Montreal Quebec Canada, December - January, 2009-2010 http://mouseprintgallerynews.blogspot.com/ (scroll down); SUNY: Buffalo New York, February 2010. Every year Print Zero hosts a traveling exhibition. Artists' create limited-editions of 15 prints and submit their entire collection to Print Zero to earn the right to participate. This year over 400 artists stepped up to the plate. Last Christmas, I so enjoyed receiving a lovely folder with 14 exquisite original prints created by artists around the world as my token for participating.

SUSTAINABLE CONNECTIONS, Whatcom Food & Farm Finder, 2010 Think Local, Buy Fresh, Be Local

The Ditch, a pastel drawing; and, Cabbage and Radishes, an oil painting are featured in the 2010 'Whatcom Food & Farm Finder'. A directory to find farms and restaurants specializing in locally grown food. 30,000 copies produced by Sustainable Connections will be distributed at over 200 local businesses and organizations this year. A few places where you can count on finding them are: Whatcom Public Libraries, Bellingham Whatcom Tourism, Downtown Renaissance Network, Village Books, the Community Food Co-op, the Bellingham Public Market, the Bellingham and Ferndale Farmers Markets, and Chambers of Commerce throughout the county.
